Summary:
The 3D Laser Scanning Technician will report to and receive direction from project BIM team members and the various project-level management teams. This role will generate content for the VDC team to utilize in a variety of ways, including but not limited to construction sequence planning, proposals, shop drawings, spooling, pre-assembly and pre-fabrication efforts, safety orientations, as-built models, and task planning.

Job Description
Summary:
The 3D Laser Scanning Technician will report to and receive direction from project BIM team members and the various project-level management teams. This role will generate content for the VDC team to utilize in a variety of ways, including but not limited to construction sequence planning, proposals, shop drawings, spooling, pre-assembly and pre-fabrication efforts, safety orientations, as-built models, and task planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ability to travel in North America to perform 3D Laser scanning.
- Works closely with project teams to effectively describe and deliver the scope of work.
- Conduct on-site visits to collect 3D scan data.
- 3D Laser scanning: field procedures, registration, publishing using Faro Scene and Trimble FieldLink.
- Map out scan locations and determine required settings.
- 3D Scanning and registration of point cloud.
Qualifications:

Required
- Ability / willingness to travel anywhere in North America.
- Computer skills.
- Self-starter with self-judgment and problem-solving skills.
- High level of professionalism in dealing with owners and design professionals.
- Must be dependable and hard working.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to overcome unforeseen challenges quickly and effectively.
- Mechanically inclined with ability to work in 3D.
- Quick learner.
- Working knowledge of Navisworks Manage clash detection.
- Strong verbal, written and electronic communication skills for responding to information requests and tasks.
- Work schedule must be flexible to allow extended periods of overtime or off-shift work to accommodate changing construction sequences.

- Experience: 3D scanning, 1 year experience.
