Job Description

About the job
Validation engineers are said to have a "break-the-part" mentality. This means they spend some of their time working to identify the use-cases in which the device will stop working as intended and understand the impact and cause of those failures. Sometimes, those are acceptable failures, but others we may need to mitigate for quality, safety, or other reasons. Plus, we want to ensure that our parts are consistently performing to the specifications that we set in our data sheet, and even to some more conservative limits or as defined in the VVCM (validation/verification compliance matrix).

To do this, they must design PCB boards and develop automation software that will increase coverage and reduce data collection time. Validation engineers will also design, develop, and implement necessary methods of measuring device performance and troubleshooting any related systems, equipment or device issues that arise. Validation engineers are often working in a post-silicon lab or on the software programs required to run their measurements.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
  • A typical day-to-day in this role is to work in the lab with Function generator, scope, Introspect tool  and Python script to validate the parts
  • You will be given the  opportunity to work closely with the Design, Systems, and Applications team while  increasing  your knowledge on the 8430 controller chip
  • The most challenging aspect of this role is  the new development for the 8430 controller chip along with learning how to use the Introspect tool.
  • The best thing about this role is you have full liberty to execute your ideas and think outside of the box to validate the device faster and bug free
  • The key to succeeding in this role is self motivation, driving  for results and good technical knowledge
  • You will be responsible for designing the hardware to test Display Input ports like DSI, FPD link, VX1 etc.
  • Develop comprehensive validation plan templates which include system-level and customer-driven use cases to meet and exceed VVCM requirements
  • Define high levels of standardization across validation for getting complete and accurate validation data into Starfish
  • Ensure exhaustive characterization of devices in the lab to assess device margins and robustness as well as catch silicon bugs before our customers find them
  • Drive cross-collaboration with test sister team to correlate bench to ATE results in a structured manner
  • Work with equipment vendors and Founders lab management to improve validation capabilities in Custom lab
  • Leading and solving customer return bench debug activities
  • Implementation of containment and corrective actions for customer returns
  • Supporting internal/external customer specific application and spec issues

 Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelors  degree in Electrical Engineering or related field of study
  • 2+ years of relevant experience

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with schematic capture, board design, and PCB layout (take it out)
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
  • Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative and drive for results
