The Business Development Specialist supports organizational growth initiatives through business development planning, proposal development, market research, relationship-building efforts, and opportunity tracking.
This role partners closely with leadership, internal teams, and marketing stakeholders to support revenue growth, expand client relationships, and improve market visibility. Essential Functions Business Development Strategy & Support
The Business Development Specialist supports organizational growth initiatives through business development planning, proposal development, market research, relationship-building efforts, and opportunity tracking.
This role partners closely with leadership, internal teams, and marketing stakeholders to support revenue growth, expand client relationships, and improve market visibility. Essential Functions Business Development Strategy & Support
- Assist with execution of business development plans and initiatives in partnership with leadership and internal stakeholders.
- Provide proactive communication, updates, and reporting on business development activities and priorities.
- Support client targeting initiatives by tracking key accounts, prospects, industries, and market opportunities.
- Coordinate activities aligned with organizational growth objectives.
- Track business development opportunities and maintain accurate pipeline information within CRM systems.
- Maintain opportunity details including status, next steps, ownership, and activity tracking.
- Support reporting efforts including dashboards, business development metrics, and leadership updates.
- Assist with CRM adoption, data accuracy, and process improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to increase visibility through speaking engagements, sponsorships, conferences, events, media opportunities, and industry initiatives.
- Support campaigns, content initiatives, and marketing efforts that align with business development goals.
- Coordinate business development events, client experiences, and relationship-building activities.
- Attend conferences and industry events as needed and support follow-up outreach initiatives.
- Prepare business development materials including presentations, proposals, and responses to client requests.
- Assist with RFP development, submission processes, and deadline management.
- Maintain and update proposal templates, experience databases, presentations, and supporting materials.
- Track proposal outcomes and gather feedback to improve future opportunities.
- Conduct research on prospective clients, industries, competitors, and market trends.
- Prepare briefing materials and background research for leadership meetings, presentations, and client discussions.
- Monitor industry developments and identify potential growth opportunities.
- Support continuous improvement of business development processes, tools, templates, and workflows.
- Collaborate with marketing, finance, operations, and leadership teams as needed.
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to analyze information, identify trends, and communicate insights effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Professional presence and ability to build relationships with executives, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of business development, marketing, and client relationship strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field preferred.
- 3–6 years of experience in business development, marketing, sales support, client relations, or professional services.
- Experience supporting proposals, RFPs, CRM systems, and relationship management initiatives.
- Professional services, consulting, legal, financial services, or similar industry experience preferred.
- Experience with digital marketing, social media, content development, or campaign support preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CRM platforms and business development tools.
- Experience with presentation design tools and marketing platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with digital marketing channels, social media, SEO, and online content platforms preferred.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to sit, type, use a computer, and communicate effectively for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry items up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to work onsite during standard business hours.
