Client has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Works Engineer to join our Dallas/Fort Worth operations. You will have an excellent opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by a Senior Civil Works Engineer.

-Under light supervision, creates basic to high complexity engineering designs involving site layout development, site grading and drainage, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasionally single-story structures.

-Reviews draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
-Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
-Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary.
-Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
-Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
-Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).
-Reviews draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
-Meets with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs.
-Attends conferences, symposia, etc. To improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff. Performs other duties as required.
-Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work

- Must be readily available to meet with Fort Worth clients, so location is key. Being able to be to the Fort Worth office within 15-20 minutes is ideal.
- Opportunity to work on some marquee, transformational projects –Panther Island, Trinity River, Dallas Floodway Extension for example.

- Previous experience on civil projects with multiple discipline groups (design, site grading, drainage, bypass etc.).

- Nice plus if they have been involved in design for bypass channel, isolation gates, storage mitigation, storm water, pump station  (they will be involved in design of the following, so some previous exposure would be nice to have)
- Knowledge of USACE design standard preferred
- Strong front end (Div 1) and Technical Specification preparation
- Technical writing for report/ studies
- Good personal and communication skills capable of working with complex local sponsor/ USACE delivery teams
- Strong work ethic and initiative
- Knowledge of various civil design software (i.E. Preferred- Microstation v8.5, Inroads, Revit, Civil 3D  (They must have at least one of these tools

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
-Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
-5 years of related experience.
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.



Amount of Travel Required: 10%

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.

Knowledge of engineer principles of design.

Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.).

Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
