Construction Supervisor –Coaxial & Fiber Construction
Position Summary
Our client seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to lead daily construction operations supporting coaxial and fiber optic network deployments. This position is responsible for overseeing mainline construction, drop bury operations, restoration activities, project execution, billing accuracy, safety compliance, workforce management, and customer satisfaction.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with experience managing multiple crews, coordinating with utility providers and customers, ensuring quality workmanship, controlling project costs, and delivering projects on schedule while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Essential Responsibilities
Construction Operations
  • Supervise daily construction activities for coaxial and fiber optic network projects.
  • Oversee aerial, underground, and buried service installations.
  • Manage mainline construction, service drops, directional boring, trenching, and restoration.
  • Ensure work is completed according to customer specifications, engineering prints, and company standards.
  • Coordinate schedules with customers, municipalities, utility companies, and internal departments.
  • Conduct daily field inspections to ensure quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Resolve field issues and provide technical guidance to crews.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust manpower as necessary to meet deadlines.

Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise construction foremen, crew leaders, technicians, subcontractors, and support personnel.
  • Conduct employee coaching, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Develop employee skills through mentoring and hands-on leadership.
  • Schedule manpower and equipment to maximize efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Project Management
  • Manage multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Track production goals, milestones, budgets, and completion dates.
  • Review engineering designs and identify potential construction concerns.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and equipment availability.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and customer updates.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and status reports.

Billing & Financial Responsibilities
  • Review contractor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
  • Approve production quantities and completed work.
  • Verify billing against completed construction activities.
  • Monitor labor hours, production costs, and project profitability.
  • Submit billing packages and supporting documentation on time.
  • Assist with forecasting labor and material requirements.
  • Ensure proper coding of labor, equipment, and materials.

Safety & Compliance
  • Promote a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings and job site audits.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Verify crews maintain required certifications and training.
  • Ensure proper traffic control, utility locates, and restoration practices.

Customer & Client Relations
  • Serve as the primary field contact for customers and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional relationships with municipalities, inspectors, utilities, and client representatives.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Provide regular project updates to management and clients.

Administrative Duties
  • Complete production reports, timesheets, and project documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Review payroll submissions for accuracy.
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding new employees.
  • Support operational planning and process improvements.

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of telecommunications construction experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of coaxial and fiber optic construction practices.
  • Experience with mainline construction and drop bury operations.
  • Understanding of underground utility construction methods.
  • Experience managing subcontractors.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering prints and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred
  • Experience supporting Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox, or similar telecommunications providers.
  • Knowledge of permitting and utility coordination.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Fiber optic and coaxial construction certifications.
  • Experience using project management or production tracking software.

Travel throughout assigned markets is required. Overnight travel may be necessary depending on project demands.
