We are seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Business Office Registration Specialist to support patient registration, insurance verification, payment collection, and front-end revenue cycle activities in a healthcare environment. This position plays an important role in ensuring accurate patient information, timely financial processing, and a positive patient experience while maintaining compliance with privacy and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Registration & Financial Processing
- Complete patient registration and admission processes accurately and efficiently across multiple patient service types.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information within electronic systems.
- Screen and validate insurance coverage and financial responsibility requirements.
- Generate and obtain required registration, consent, and financial documents.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, deposits, and patient payments while maintaining accurate payment records.
- Process payment posting and maintain supporting financial documentation.
Customer Service & Communication
- Deliver professional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Explain financial responsibilities and provide guidance regarding registration requirements.
- Answer intake and administrative phone calls and resolve service concerns.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to support patient care and operational efficiency.
- Assist patients with directions, instructions, and registration-related questions.
Administrative & Documentation Support
- Maintain complete and accurate electronic patient records and scanned documentation.
- Support registration workflows during system downtime procedures when needed.
- Process forms, records, and internal documentation in accordance with department standards.
- Assist with additional business office and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare registration, business office operations, patient access, or revenue cycle support preferred.
- Knowledge of insurance verification, patient registration, and payment collection processes preferred.
- Experience using electronic health records (EHR), patient accounting systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, customer service, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with office equipment, phones, scanners, and computer systems.
