- Job Summary: The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups. Plans, implements, and evaluates patient/client care plans to restore or maintain patient/client wellbeing. Evaluates occupational roles and occupational performance of patients/clients with physical, psycho-social and/or cognitive impairments. Provides interventions for deficits and elicit responses. Participates in the coordination of care.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapy.
- Licensure: Active state license as an occupational therapist assistant. Current driver’s license.
- Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in patients’/clients’homes in various conditions;possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases;ability to work a flexible schedule;ability to travel locally;some exposure to unpleasant weather.
- Physical and Mental Effort: Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/client needs and to meet patient/client and family individualized psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Essential Functions:
- Graduated from an accredited program of occupational therapy.
- Provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
- Facilitates patients’/clients’ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients’/clients’ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.
- Participates in the coordination of care.
- Provide services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the OT.
- Apply concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient/client care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
- Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner
- Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients/clients.
- Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient/client and caregiver education.
- Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
- Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements;participates in the Agency sponsored in-service training.
- Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
- Proof of current CPR certification.
