About the role:

This role will be responsible for all aspects of the corn-based ethanol to jet fuel plant operations including production, maintenance, supply chain, quality control, and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) at our Lake Preston, South Dakota facility. The duties will be performed personally or through, while supporting our vision, mission, values and objectives of the company.

 

Who you are:
  • Responsible for Plant performance and oversite of all Plant functions: Commercial; Operations; Maintenance & Reliability; Environmental, Health and Safety; Compliance; Accounting & Finance; Human Resources; Quality Assurance & Control.
  • Possess strong leadership skills and passion for developing others through coaching and training
  • Develop monthly and annual facility plans, and ensure that capital and operating budgets are aligned with functional and business objectives
  • Facility plans must ensure achievement of KPI’ s and targets, including sustainability and carbon intensity
  • Develop and maintain a high-performance culture.  Ensure successful recruitment, training, onboarding, and retention of employees.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Utilize Corporate resources as needed to achieve desired results.
  • Ensure subordinate managers hold their teams to expectations around providing constructive, and consistent feedback to their employees. 
  • Develop the processes and culture to drive Operational Excellence. Analyze data to improve operational efficiencies
  • Develop a maintenance reliability program that identifies and manages asset reliability risks and asset failure prevention.
  • Ensure facility compliance, including with all PSM requirements.
  • Enhance the safety culture at the plant by enforcing safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace, and demonstrating support to organizational safety initiatives
  • Foster a strong culture of proactivity and continuous improvement across all functions of the facility
  • Standardize regular reviews with corporate leadership and investors of Key Performance Indicators established for the plant

Requirements and Experience
  • Bachelor’ s/Master’ s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Substantial management experience with 8-10 years of proven ethanol, chemical, petroleum, or related oversight experience
  • Previous experience as a Plant, Facility, or other Asset Manager
  • Strategy development experience and broad business acumen
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to drive to metrics
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated track record with a focus on environmental, health and safety
  • Proven experience in creating and managing systems to drive operational excellence
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions
  • Experience with financial management of a production facility including budget, expense management, and investment/return analysis
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized; able to work well within all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and work well as a team
  • Competency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn and use new software applications
  • Knowledge and stewardship of PSM-regulated facilities and programs.
  • Authorized to work in the US

 

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to manage confined space entry, climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to adapt to outside work environments which could include cold, heat, wind, rain, snow and slippery surfaces
  • Ability to sit, climb, crawl, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, be able to detect changes in plant sounds and visually discern color variations in products
  • Individual will be exposed to high noise levels
