Job Title: Senior Systems Specialist
Department: Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Reports To: BAS Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary
The Senior Systems Specialist is responsible for designing, commissioning, and building BAS databases and graphics for complex commercial projects. This role emphasizes high-quality craftsmanship, safety, and professionalism while delivering solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. The position also provides technical leadership and project oversight within the BAS department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and service Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Oversee installation and setup of BAS components and ensure proper configuration of end devices
  • Perform network setup and troubleshooting (IP, RS-485, etc.)
  • Conduct Point-to-Point verification of I/O
  • Provide technical support and guidance to BAS team members
  • Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper use of PPE
  • Manage and maintain company-issued tools and equipment
  • Accurately complete timecards, service logs, and project documentation
  • Communicate regularly with project coordinators, supervisors, and onsite contacts regarding project progress
  • Support project management activities and assist with team development initiatives
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a BAS System Specialist or in a similar role
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities
  • Proficiency with BAS communication protocols and software such as:
    • Tridium Niagara AX/N4 Workbench
    • Distech GFX
    • Honeywell Spyder Tool
    • Johnson Controls CCT/PCT
  • Hands-on experience with LonWorks and/or BACnet control systems
  • Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and low-voltage system troubleshooting
  • Advanced technical and analytical problem-solving abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, and packaged units
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans, drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience with low-voltage wiring and ability to identify wire types and colors
  • Must provide basic hand tools (e.G., screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers)
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends when necessary
  • Valid driver’s license with a minimum of three years of driving history
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move equipment, parts, and tools weighing 50 lbs or more
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights
  • Able to work in confined spaces and varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, etc.)
