Job Description
Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking Consumer Lending Underwriters at the Junior and Intermediate levels to support underwriting of non-mortgage consumer loan products. This team manages all consumer lending outside of mortgage, including personal loans, boat loans, and RV loans.
This role requires strong credit risk analysis skills, solid knowledge of consumer lending regulations, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a high-volume, chat-based underwriting environment. The primary difference between levels is lending authority limits.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and underwrite non-mortgage consumer loan applications
- Evaluate credit reports, income documentation, and tax returns
- Assess credit risk and ensure underwriting decisions align with internal policies and regulatory standards
- Accurately document underwriting decisions and maintain complete, audit-ready loan files
- Communicate with internal partners via Outlook and Slack in a click-to-chat environment
- Manage 5–6 inbound chat requests per day while actively underwriting loans
- Effectively pause and resume loan reviews to address chat inquiries without sacrificing accuracy
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all regulatory, audit, and documentation requirements
- Chat-based communication only (no phone calls)
- High-volume underwriting workflow
- Requires frequent multitasking and strong time-management skills
- Collaborative team environment using modern digital tools
